When the going gets tough

W

Last weekend on my way to my younger sister’s school for visiting day I had a seemingly disturbing phone call and to be honest I felt a bit naughty that I wasn’t as worried as I was supposed to be.

In spite of my spiritual lukewarmness this year, the Holy Spirit has always come through for me in situations beyond my control with scriptures which I use to pray, some months ago when I made a stupid decision and I needed God to miraculously save me from it, it was Genesis 20.

This time it was the story of David and Goliath, I wasn’t sure what I would get out of the scripture but I searched my bible and found the chapter to be 1 Samuel 17.

I really tried to make this a story like article but despite all my efforts none of it worked, all the stories were clouding the message so I decided to list out all the undiluted points.

1) David was charged in anger by the insult that was sent to humiliate the people of God.

2) He attacked Goliath with the confidence (Faith) of his previous testimonies.

3) He didn’t see the reality of Goliath being to physically big and unstoppable, the only reality he saw was that God was with him.

4) He didn’t let the proposed reality of others sway him from his belief in the Power of God to do the impossible.

5) He didn’t take anything that he didn’t need, He didn’t need the armor provided because from times past he knew amours were nothing, he took only all he needed; His GOD!.

6) Situations have mouths and they speak, Goliath was a situation and he spoke to David about how he would defeat him.

7) The only reply befitting for situations is the word of God, not worry and definitely not tears.

8) David didn’t go to battle for his glory so when he was speaking/praying, he spoke that at the end all men would Glorify God.

So when the going gets tough…….

1) Don’t you know that an insult to your victory is an insult to God?

2) Doesn’t God deserve your unwavering faith after all the previous testimonies he has delivered to you?

3) Yes everyone has their own perception of reality but isn’t God’s reality the only valid and acceptable reality?

4) If God’s reality is the only valid reality why should the proposed reality of others sway you from your faith?

5) If God is all you need, what’s the point of all these ungodly ammunition and backup plans?

6) Yes situations have a mouth and yes they speak but must you listen to them blabbing that they can defeat you?

7) Isn’t God’s word the best and only way to reply any situation?

8) If it is to the Glory of God don’t you know that God wouldn’t embarrass himself by not helping you when you call?

I also advice that you take a refresher course on 1 Samuel 17 and pray that the Holy Spirit sees your through every trial in your life.
