Isn’t this just insane, how foolish could this people be? i mean they stood face to face,flesh to flesh with one of the greatest to walk on this earth and the only thing their mind could muster up was hatred and disdain.
I hope you share this view from the account of Mat 13:57(NLT):”And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor.””
They had the glorious privilege of being in the same generation as the one and only saviour, to some folks that would have meant the world to them, but not to these people, they were angry at Jesus, i mean in all of Jesus’ perfection and holiness how could these people still have the guts to muster up hate. Its really mind bugling but then its true.
Many of us are familiar with this story in the bible but fail to learn an important lesson from it which is “**It’s not you honey, its them!**”
Most times We worry ourselves on why we don’t get the approval and appreciation from the folks around us that we care about.
we show love and care but get disdain in return; **Honey its not you!.**
Encourage yourself with the fact that even Jesus got the same reaction from folks with all his perfection and the more interesting truth is that, it was their loss and not his, he did very little miracle there but performed even greater at other places.
So before you open the door to insecurities about your life and how you’re not good enough for whoever they are,Open the door to the word of God; Jesus wasn’t accepted in his home town and if you’re not its okay, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
It’s their loss and not yours,and if they can’t appreciate you, just be rest assured that the Lord will bring someone better your way that would make them feel like history.
Pray the Romans 15:5 prayer today “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had”.
